Prologis Warehouse Site Wins USEPA Excellence in Site Reuse Award

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency presented the “Excellence in Site Reuse” Award on June 28, 2018 to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Jersey City, and Prologis, Inc. for work at the former PJP Landfill Superfund site in Jersey City.

The 87-acre site is located along the Hackensack River and below a portion of the Pulaski Skyway.  The former chemical and industrial landfill site was subject to frequent subsurface fires and was added to the EPA’s Superfund National Priorities List in 1983.  The collaborative clean-up and development efforts between the NJDEP, Jersey City, and Prologis, Inc. have resulted in a site that is now home to a state-of-the-art, LEED-certified, warehouse and distribution center, public open space, and restored wetlands.

EPA Regional Administrator Pete Lopez said in a statement, "This has truly been a collaborative effort between local, state and federal agencies and the community to turn this once environmentally compromised site into an economic and community asset."

Menlo Engineering is proud to be part of the Prologis Pulaski Distribution Center design team.
